Turkey Shoot 2003...
Despite having to postpone this event due to scheduling conflicts created by evacuation for the Old Fire, we managed to find a date to decimate those most favorite of November fowl. Before anyone starts bawling for the birds, let me assure you, no actual turkeys were harmed during this event.
Leading up to the Turkey Shoot, boys worked in their dens to create turkey targets and sling shots. Targets boasted bells, pie pans, bright paint, and even a few colored feathers.
Once all the targets were in place, they boys had been reminded of standard safety procedures, and the leaders had cleared to a VERY safe distance, the mayhem began.
After much enthusiastic pelting of the feathered foes, the boys became bored with the stationary targets. Our brave and fearless Cub Master, donned his protective gear, armed himself with a large turkey, and provided the boys with a MOVING target.
And what would a Pack 89 event be without food and even more fun??? After the boys had expended as much of their energy as possibly outside on this cold, foggy morning, we all went inside to enjoy a turkey lunch and craft time.
Thanks to all Den Leaders, parents, and siblings that contributed to this event to make it such a tremendous success.
